"Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless."

Sherry Anderson

"Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer."

"The broadest, and maybe the most meaningful definition of volunteering: Doing more than you have to because you want to, in a cause you consider good."

Ivan Scheier

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are at the heart of everything this organization accomplishes. There are so many ways you can become involved - you can spend time with the students, or work with the other parents, work on your own at home, or even do all three!  Every little bit helps.
Anyone who, during the course of their volunteer activity, may be left alone with students (not under the direct supervision of a county school employee) must have a current current background check on file with Anne Arundel County Schools.  These are generally valid for two years.
Two of the Committees that need a lot of volunteers are listed below.  To see other opportunities, check out the Who's Who page for a list of Committees.  Contact the Chair of any Committee that looks interesting to you.

HOSPITALITY - Committee Chair:  Sue Wright, lshwright@comcast.net
This Committee is responsible for feeding the students during Band Camp, before football games, and at the end of year picnic.
The Chair organizes everything. The other volunteers are needed to help prepare the food and the dining area, serve the food, and clean up afterward. Go to Sign-Up Genius to sign up for Band Camp slots.

CHAPERONES - Committee Chair: Shari Brandt, chaperone@sphsmusic.org
Chaperones are required at Band Camp, rehearsals outside of the school day, football games, and trips.
All Chaperones must have a current background check on file with Anne Arundel County Schools.  These are generally valid for two years.  Submit your request at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
There was be a mandatory meeting August 25 for anyone who wants to chaperone for the upcoming school year.  Contact the committee chair if you missed it.
Chaperones should indicate their availability for events by filling out this FORM which includes the list of dates and the chaperone uniform colors for each one.  They also need to submit an Adult Medical Form.
Go to SignUp.Com to sign up for Band Camp and rehearsal slots. You must have a valid background check already on file.

Where Can You Help?

SPHS BOB would like to include and encourage all parents to become involved with the Booster Organization.

There are many opportunities to volunteer both your time, either a lot or a little, and your expertise.

Check out the Who's Who page to see a list of the Committees we have in the organization, and contact the Committee Chair of any that look interesting to you.
