Music is a unique and powerful form of communication that transcends the limits of verbal expression. It involves and affects both thought and emotion and makes a unique contribution to the growth and development of students and society as a whole.

Each Student has an inherent need to develop avenues for self-expression and communication. It is the goal of Anne Arundel County Public Schools to provide programs which will ensure that all students have access to a program where they can learn to value music through the acquisition of skills, knowledge, and concepts. Is is the Boosters hope that our students develop foundations for a lifetime of musical experiences and growth.

The Severna Park High School Music Department believe that students should be encouraged to develop their musical talents to their full potential, thus enhancing their understanding and appreciation of music as an art form and its relevance to human life. A wide variety of course offerings are provided for all students of all ability levels. These include four levels of band, orchestra, chorus, guitar and piano and two levels of current music perspectives. As an extension of the band, orchestra, and chorus classes, students participate in county, state and national groups.
